How to apply for Facebook permission?

Due to recent Facebook API update, some permissions are no longer granted as default. For those Facebook apps created after April 30th 2014, there are 3 permissions which are no longer granted as default: read_stream, publish_actions, and user_photos. In order to apply for these permissions, please follow these steps.

1. Login to your developer facebook account  https://developers.facebook.com/

2. On the top menu, select MyApps (to create a Facebook app, visit http://knowledgebase.younetco.com/2014/09/23/guide-for-creating-facebook-twitter-and-linkedin-application for more information)

3. On your app page, click on Status & Review menu on the left hand side menu.

4. Click on start a submission. In the popup window, select 3 permissions read_stream, publish_actions, and user_photos and click on Add items.

5. Go to Facebook Apps and click on App Details section, add App IconLong Description and Privacy Policy URL.

a) Upload App Icon with recommended 1024x1024px and 16x16px sizes respectively.

b) Long Description : example : Our App uses Facebook details to enable users to post Facebook updates from our site to access user's photos, activity, to enable users to link their Facebook Pages with their Pages on our site.

c) Privacy Policy URL : your site's privacy policy link

6. After click on Add 3 items,  on the Status And Review page, there are 3 permissions. Now click on the "Add Notes" link available with user_photos permission and fill the following information for the two fields for this permission:

Notes for user_photos:

a) Please explain how you are using user_photos to enhance a person's in-app experience

We need user_photos permission to allow users to import the photos' album from Facebook to our site for their  activities on our website. It increases user browsing and interactivity on our site.

b) How did you test user_photos? Please give detailed instructions so our review team can reproduce this permission.

1. Go to acbcd.com

2. Log-in using your ID and password

3. Select Social Media Importer, click on Connect to Facebook.

If user_photos permission is approved, you will log-in your Facebook with your Facebook account, then it will reverse                 back to the acbcd.com, the photos' albums will appear to import.

Notes for publish_actions:

a)  Please explain how you are using publish_actions to enhance a person's in-app experience.

We need publish_actions permission to allow users to publish user activity feed from our site into Facebook activity feed

b) What type of content (e.g. photos, stories) does your app share, and what button do people click to publish to Facebook? Please add detailed instructions so our review team can reproduce this permission

1. Go to acbcd.com

2. Log-in using your ID and password

3. Select User Settings, click on Manage Social Settings. In Social Publisher , select Publish Providers which you           want to publish to.

If publish_actions permission is approved, when user post an status/blog in acbcd.com, these postings will appear                 into Facebook activity feed as well.

Notes for read_stream:

a)   Please explain how you are using read_stream to enhance a person's in-app experience

We need read_stream permission to allow users to get activities from their Facebook's walls such as new feeds, photos, videos and event they have been tagged by others and so on. 

b) How did you test read_stream? Please give detailed instructions so our review team can reproduce this permission.

2. Log-in using your ID and password

3. On the member homepage, in What's New tab,click on facebook logo link to get feeds from Facebook

If read_stream permission is approved, when user post an status/blog in Facebook's wallthese postings will appear               into our site activity feed as well.

7. And you're done. Facebook takes about a week to update users on permission request.
